This YPS Tutors air rifle course is running at the Dawney Outdoor Centre near Easingwold in North Yorkshire. The course tutor supplied by PeakSmart.
The NSRA Youth Proficiency Scheme tutor’s qualification is the basic air rifle instructors course. It is the minimum qualification to instruct air rifle as an activity amongst youth organisations and the outdoor education sector. It equips the adult instructor with all of the knowledge to prepare for and run activity sessions in air rifle shooting.
Course details
The air rifle instructors course is a mixture of theory and practical sessions. You don’t need any experience shooting an air rifle as full instruction is part of the course. You do need to come with an open mind and plenty of enthusiasm. There is no exam as such, but there will be an assessment so that you can demonstrate the safe operation of an air rifle and the safe management of an air rifle session. Don’t worry, everything you need to do both of these things is in this air rifle instructors course.
The course costs include registration of your qualification with the NSRA and the comprehensive course handbook.

Air Rifle Course Instructor
The course tutor is Andrew Nimmo. Andrew is an ISSF ‘C’ Coach and NSRA Regional Coach and is currently working for British Shooting, coaching in the performance pathway as part of the Talent Academy. Andrew has worked at all levels of shooting, from coaching on the international stage down to regular sessions with his local scout group.
